Political beliefs, parties, and arguments aside, people are hurting. People are confused and scared. Everyone could use a little encouragement, a little reminder that there’s more to life than what happens in politics.

Life moves on, no matter who is in the White House, and we can’t control everything that happens to us in life. That no matter what, God is on the throne, and He’s still in control.

When I’m at a loss for words, when I’m unsure which way to turn, when I feel beat down, or alone, I turn to God.

And when I don’t have the words to say, or when I can’t manage to put into words what I’m feeling, I turn to His word and use scripture as a comfort.

Sometimes just to read and be blessed. Other times, I use the words of the saints as affirmations and prayers.

These scriptures serve as a great reminder of the sovereignty of God and His mercy to His people.

Because we are God’s people, not the president’s people. It doesn’t matter what side of the party line you stand on, you’re still a child of the most high God.

Even if you don’t serve Him.

Encouraging Scriptures for After the Election

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39; King James Bible

No matter who wins, no matter what the policies, no matter man or woman or light or darkness, what’s to come in the future- God’s love will always prevail.

He loves us, He cares for us, He knows the need, and He will be faithful.

When we learn to trust in His plan (even through the hard times), we can find peace, rest, and comfort in His arms.

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.

2 Timothy 2:19; King James Bible

How sweet it is to know that He knows me. Even before I was formed He had a marvelous plan for my life.

That plan doesn’t stop when bad things happen to us. The Bible says He knows the hairs on your head, so how much more then do you think your worries and cares mean to Him?

He sees, He knows, He cares.

If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: if we deny Him, He will also deny us: if we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

2 Timothy 2:12-13; King James Bible

God didn’t promise that we wouldn’t face things in this life. I know that isn’t very encouraging to hear, but it’s true.

Just like now, we will face things in life that we don’t understand, that we don’t agree with, that we can’t walk through alone.

But thankfully, this world is not my home. Even in this life if all we face is hardship, we can find comfort in knowing that the suffering is temporal and we have Heaven to gain!

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

1 Thessalonians 5:24; King James Bible

God has called you for this hour, this time. He is the giver of life and if you are here, it’s because you have a purpose for NOW.

Because He called you, then He will provide what it takes to get you through.

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11; King James Bible

While we’re robed in flesh, it’s quite easy to allow anger to creep in when things happen that we don’t agree with or understand. However, find solace in Christ.

Stand for righteousness no matter what the costs, encourage others to pursue God’s will. Lift up others in prayer and supplication unto God.

We’re gonna live with Him one day. No matter how I feel right now, I can depend on Heaven. We can be comforted together knowing that Heaven awaits.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Psalm 46; King James Bible

Oh, how sweet it is to read those words. God is my refuge, a place that I can hide myself in when I fear. A place that I can find comfort.

In due time, He will yet be exalted again. He is with us.

Whether He be exalted in His coming, or in the season of life that He sees fit, we can find encouragement in knowing that He has the answers, He holds the timeline, and the day will come when He will be exalted!
