In the fast-paced world that we live in it’s so hard to be sure that you keep your heart on Christ. Yet in the fast-paced world that we live in, we have such a need to keep our hearts on Christ. Even for “experienced” Christians, sometimes we can all struggle when the ways of this life consume us.

Especially as moms, we’re so busy making sure we are taking care of our homes, our children. We have to keep them educated, safe, and responsible. We are catering to our husbands. We are sharing experiences and creating memories. We are living the life that Christ so graciously gave us, but it’s swallowing us whole.

You aren’t alone here, we all go through stages where we feel like life is taking its toll and we are falling into the trap of the enemy to enthrall us with “stuff” to keep us busy. But how can you be sure that all of these things don’t cloud our view of Christ? We’ve put together a fun list of ways to keep your heart on Christ.

Carry a compact Bible

One of the easiest ways to get a reminder of Christ is to read His Word consistently! When you get a moment at work, or in the car, or even the bathroom, instead of picking up Facebook take out your Bible! Carrying a physical Bible is a better alternative than an app because you won’t be tempted to use other phone/tablet features and be distracted.

Have Christian music accessible

Personally, I believe that the things that we listen to impact our lives in more ways than one. “Be careful little ears what you hear” is never truer. Have good worship, encouraging, and exciting music playing whenever you can. In the car, at home, in your office, don’t be ashamed! Keep your heart on Christ through song unto Him!

Listen to good Gospel preaching

Seek out some great men and women who preach true doctrine. We love tuning into Youtube and listening to preachers like B.H. Clendennon, Kenny Morris, and my personal favorite Merle Manguno. These people teach and preach being led by the Holy Ghost, they convict and encourage my heart with every message.

Pray

When you feel yourself being overwhelmed with the things of life, when you find yourself bored, when you find yourself struggling, turn to prayer. When you begin to “train” yourself to turn to God in your time of need, keeping your heart on Christ will never be easier. Because He will be your heart’s desire.

Ask for God’s help

If you still find it hard to think on God throughout your day, ask Him for help. Acknowledge that you are struggling and ask Him to remind you to take the time to think on Him. So often we find that Christians become cold because we aren’t rekindling that fire by falling in love with Jesus all over again. Let Him lead you and teach you.

Use our 50 Biblical Affirmations Ebook

Affirmations are simply short sayings that encourage and empower you. We’ve taken the scriptures and compacted them into short one-liners that can be easily remembered and recited. By doing this, we can repeat these applicable scriptures to give us a little reminder of Christ throughout the day.

Fast

I recently wrote a post about “Should Christians Fast?“, fasting is an effective way for Christians to pursue Christ. Fasting is a sacrifice of the body unto God, showing your need for Him. Fasting and prayer are extremely important tools in the Christian’s arsenal!

What ways do you keep your heart on Christ throughout each day? Do you have an idea that wasn’t mentioned here? Share it in the comments to help a fellow Christian out!
