Sight and Sound is a Bible-based theatre that always puts on the best show! No matter what age you are, you are sure to enjoy all the action-packed fun of every minute of this live show. But if you’re bringing kids, there are a few things that you should know about the show before you get there!

6 Things You Should Know About Going to Sight and Sound with Kids

1. Be on time

Per Sight and Sound instructions, they advise you to make it to the theatre at least 45 minutes before your show. I know this may seem a little overkill to some, but you really may need it. So don’t skimp out and wait until the last minute.

When you arrive, it’s likely that you’ll have to sit in “traffic” to park. Additionally, it may take time for you to enter with your tickets, get your snacks, and find your designated seating. There are also times throughout the show where the cast makes their way through the audience. If you show up late, you may not be able to be seated until later.

2. The show is dark

If you have a little one that is afraid of the dark, prepare for this. Little ones under 3 do not require a ticket, but over 3 do. You may have to soothe your child by leaving the area. If so, be sure to find an usher if you require help to find the exits and don’t be afraid to visit the family room!

(Keep reading to see more about the family room) They truly think about everything and want every person to be able to enjoy the show. Don’t be afraid to visit Sight and Sound with kids! You may have a few hiccups (normal kid experiences, right?), but they’ll love the experience just as much as you!

2. There are live animals

Animal allergies? Kids that are afraid of large animals? Animal sightings are only temporary, but be sure that you have an adult on the end seat if you are seated directly in front of the stage “floor seating”. The animals will walk through the isles, and you surely don’t want any mishaps!

3. Special Effects

Times throughout the show, the music may get loud, the effects bright, the sounds boisterous. If you have a child that may be afraid of flashing lights or loud sounds you may want to take some extra precautions. A lot of times the announcer will let you know if there will be any special effects before they happen (during intermission).

4. Intermission

Intermission is a great time to stretch your legs, go to the bathroom, get a snack. If you can, try not to get up before intermission. With kids, they understand that emergencies happen, but try to be courteous and come prepared!

5. Snacks

The concession stand does offer light snacks; nuts, pretzels, candy, popcorn. However, if you have small children or food allergies, Sight and Sound does allow for you to come prepared with light snacks. Be respectful of their policy and just do the right thing.

If your snacks come in wrappers, try to take the wrappers off before the show starts. If you do bring your own snacks, be sure to not leave your leftovers or paper behind. Think about the staff and clean up your mess!

6. Family Room

Should you need to exit the show because of a restless child, or another mishap, Sight and Sound does offer a designated Family Room where you can view the show live on tv. So you never have to worry about missing the show because they’ve got you covered!

There’s really not much else you should have to worry about. The show is absolutely amazing, and having kids shouldn’t stop you from enjoying it!

BUT, I really can’t stress the most important thing; be respectful to the people around you. You should absolutely take your kids to see the show at Sight and Sound theatre, but don’t let them be wild and ruin everyone else’s time. Be courteous, plan ahead, and have a great time! By following our tips, you’ll have a solid plan to be successful when going to Sight and Sound with kids.
