Here are a few reasons why you might want to track your daily Bible reading and prayer.

First, journaling helps you stay on track during the time you have set aside. If you’ve set aside fifteen minutes for time with God each day, you can read for seven or eight minutes (enough to read through the Bible in one year) and work through each section of the journal in one or two minutes, writing as you go.

Just like taking notes in school, writing helps you focus, helps you remember what you’ve learned, and creates a record you can refer back to as needed.

Second, journaling helps you stay on track for the month. If you are committed to a journaling process you can keep track of your progress by flipping through the pages of your journal.

Did you spend time with God each day this week? This month? Why or why not? What can you do better next time?

Third, journaling gives you a thorough record of how much you have changed, how much God has answered prayers, and all that you have learned over the course of a month or year.

It’s always good to look back and reflect on how God has been working in your life and the lives of your loved ones.

As you see amazing things, make sure to share those faith-building moments with your children. Let them be a part of what God is doing in your life.

Fourth, journaling provides a record for future generations. This is one we don’t think of often.

The power of this should not be underestimated. In the midst of dirty diapers, messy floors, and stacks of laundry and dishes, don’t compare to the blessing it would be for your family to look back through.

Think about how they can see God moving through and answering prayers over the years. Without even a word spoken, they can see the hand of God!

Fifth, journaling can provide a certain level of accountability. “If I don’t have quiet time, I won’t have anything written in my journal for today.”

This can be a powerful motivator for some. If having blank pages bothers you and motivates you to stay on track that’s wonderful!

A Caution

If having blank pages just sets you on a guilt trip that makes you want to give up — tear the pages out of your notebooks and throw them away.

This bible reading and prayer journal printable is not intended to overwhelm you with guilt. It is a tool. Tools are supposed to help you, not work against you.

Always keep that in mind when you get overwhelmed.

How to set up your monthly bible reading and prayer journal free printables.
