If you didn’t catch our exciting news about Baby P #3, then surprise! Yes, we’re expecting again! Like all pregnancies go, especially when you’re taking care of other kids too, it’s been a whirlwind. I can’t believe that I’m already 3 weeks into the second trimester.

I thought that the second trimester would be a little easier. For a little while, it had me fooled. The all-day sickness had subsided for about a week and then came back with a vengeance. Twice this week I’ve been sick, and besides the all-day sickness, we’ve moved into the emotional mess stage.

I may, or may not, have cried nearly every day this week. And when I’m not crying, I’m worrying. When I’m not worrying, I’m anxious and nervous. I feel like the baby is growing in my chest, and not in my belly. But, it’s completely normal, right? Please just don’t ask me how I feel.

I guess I’ll stop feeling sorry for myself and reminisce on the enjoyable parts of the first trimester. Like finding out you’re pregnant and mistaking gas bubbles for early baby kicks. Still so funny. My first trimester must haves list is one you’ll want to Pin and keep track of! If you’re only here for the printable pregnancy journal, just keep scrolling.

First Trimester Must Haves

1. Nausea Remedies

I’m not sure if this morning all day sickness will ever leave, but I’ll tell you that these nausea remedies have been my saving grace. No matter what you choose to suppress that terrible feeling, find what works and never be without. While I’ve never tried them, I hear Preggie Pops are great, and I know a lot of people who swear by this tea. Personally, I love Lemon Drops and essential oils. When all else fails, give me the Zofran.

2. Snacks

What is a pregnant lady without her snacks? Seriously though, please don’t leave the house without snacks. There will be that one time where you feel like you’re gonna starve to death in the middle of nowhere, or when you feel like you just might blow chunks- you’ll need those snacks. Be sure to pick something that’s sweet, salty, and healthy. My go-to snacks are usually cheese and almonds, but when I’m on the go, I love Kind Bars and Laura Bars. Both are simple and yummy!

3. Pillows

Three pregnancies, and I’ve never purchased a pregnancy pillow. I’m not knocking anyone who does, but I just can’t justify spending $40 on a pillow. So instead, I use all of our extra pillows. Believe me, something will hurt when all you can do is lay on your side. Especially when you’re a tummy sleeper. If you can’t afford it, don’t fret, just get some cheap pillows from Amazon.

5. Diffuser

Sleep troubles? Sinus troubles? Worry Troubles? A cool mist diffuser is the answer. Not only is it soothing to have it running throughout the day and night, but the cool mist keeps the air slightly damp so that you breathe better and sleep better. If you’re a fan of essential oils, diffuse Lavender at night for good sleep and Citrus Oils during the day to help you feel energized. It’s a win, win, win.

6. Prenatal

The first thing you should do when you confirm pregnancy, is to consult your doctor about a great prenatal. In the beginning, I tried a few different kinds and ended up going with an over the counter. I knew I needed something with Folic Acid, and I also had calcium troubles with previous pregnancies, so I wanted a little boost. This One A Day Womens Prenatal met all my requirements!

7. Water, Water, Water

I’m like a camel when I’m pregnant. Literally. My body craves water like nobody’s business, I’m like a tsunami. I just suck it all up and then spew it all out every 30 minutes or so. Yet I can’t get enough and my body stores so much of it. I cut out all sodas last year, so I’m only drinking water anyways, but I still swell up like crazy. If you need to up your water intake, try a cool water bottle like this one that helps to track your guzzle power.
