What does the Bible Say about Homosexuality? Your Questions Answered

This post was written after our blog post about canceling our Disney vacation went viral. My views have not changed, but I have updated this post to reflect the considerable amount of questions that we have received since that viral post a few years ago. It’s here where I’m going to answer your many questions I received and share with your my answers along with one of the most popular question: What does the Bible say about homosexuality?

A friend of mine said, “Sometimes, you’ve just got to realize that some ‘Christians’ don’t do a very good job at representing Christ.” And while I’d love say that this doesn’t apply to me, I can admit that I am robed in this fleshly body and I fail too.

This interweb and the life that I lead behind these screens and keys is sometimes misunderstood because I cannot control the tone that my “voice” is portrayed in. But I hope you read this with an open mind and an open heart- truly seeking to be more like Christ, just as I am.

But if we’re being honest, we can all admit that our thoughts about each other and the hot topics that we’re discussing doesn’t really matter. What matters is what His word says about it all.

In light of being honest, let’s apply scripture to a few questions you asked or statements you made about how I feel about homosexuality and the concerns surrounding canceling my Disney vacation.

So we’re going to address those questions and emails I received and then discuss what the Bible says about homosexuality.

Christ, the Bible, and homosexuality: Questions about this and their answers

Question #1: Does God love everyone?

God loves His creation, but He doesn’t love what His creation has become. So this is only partly true. God has a love that is unending, it is boundless. However, he hates sin (Proverbs 6:16).

If God is all-loving, then how can he hate sin? The Bible specifically tells us that there are consequences of sin (Romans 6). Isaiah 59 says that sin separates us from God.

A great example in the Old Testament is the children of Israel. They turned away from God by worshiping other gods, committing sin, not obeying Him. Because of this, God gave them over unto their enemies, there were plagues, heartache, destruction, death. When they turned back to Christ, there were still repercussions for sin.

God led the children of Israel out of slavery and promised them a land flowing of milk and honey, but because of their disobedience, only two people of the original tribes were able to see the Promised Land. Yet, the Lord kept His promise of leading them to a great land through their children.

A great New Testament example is the rich man who asked God what he had to do to enter Heaven. Jesus told him to sell everything that he had, and the rich man walked away sorrowful. His love of money and disobedience towards God caused him to miss out on eternity in Heaven. There are still repercussions for sin. God’s love for us gives us the chance for eternal life, but it is clear that this promise is not extended to the sinner.

Question #2: Is homosexuality a sin?

Yes, it is a sin. What does the Bible say about homosexuality? Let’s see…From the Old Testament to the New Testament, every mention of homosexuality is aforementioned to or followed by, a mention of sinful nature. Old Testament: Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:14, Genesis 19, Ezekial 16, Judges 2. New Testament: Romans 1:26-27, Jude 1:5-8, 1 Timothy 1:8-11, 1 Corinthians 7:2, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.Both Old and New Testaments call same-sex, homosexuality, familiar spirits, effeminate actions, as evil, abominable, and sinful. But God is still able to forgive ALL sin, and we are able to be both forgiven and delivered.

Question #3: Is homosexuality ok since God forgives sin?

Absolutely, positively, true. But what the Bible says about homosexuality and God forgiving us with it is two-fold. BUT we must first turn from our wicked ways. We are flesh, we still make mistakes. But this is not a free pass to use His unending mercy. We don’t automatically receive grace. We aren’t worthy of it, but we must strive to be more like Christ. And to be like Christ, we must strive to be blameless.

This is a great example of how God desires for us to have a heart for Him above all else. If we are not willing to let go of our worldly possessions, then we are not truly ready to meet Him in Heaven. We must be willing to give up everything for Jesus if we want to receive His blessings in return.

Question #4 (more like a belief and a question): God makes everyone the way that they are. People don’t choose to be gay, they are born that way. If being gay is a sin, why does God make them that way?

We are wonderfully made (Psalm 139:15), but we are still born with a sinful nature. Genesis 1 plainly says that He created us as male and female, there is no mistake to the way God made us. It also says that He commanded them to ‘be fruitful and multiply‘ (verse 22), no 2 men or 2 women can multiply. This is against both the nature and law of God as it is written, “God cannot change” (Numbers 23).

Question #5: Are there are gay-Christians?

This is a false teaching of the modern church. There is no scripture to back this up. Let’s think about this for a second. If God declares being gay, or homosexual, as a sin and there are no such thing as sinful Christians, then how are there “gay Christians?”

What does the Bible say about homosexuality when it comes to Christians? Well, He doesn’t turn a blind eye! Jude 1 actually condemns this foolish way of teaching as “sensual, having not the Spirit“. Because the spirit is what helps us flee from temptation.

Question #6: Did Jesus didn’t say anything about homosexuality?

Oh yes, yes He did. Go read what the Bible says about homosexuality in Matthew 19. He explicitly condemns anything outside of the man-woman relationship that God put into place.

Question #7: What if your kids turn out gay, would you write them off?

No. Absolutely not. I will continue in prayer and fasting for them, as I do now. I will continue to love them. But I must abide by what the Bible equates as sin.

The Bible says that we aren’t to entertain sin or those who play with it. He says to abstain from even the appearance of evil. A sin is a sin, no matter what sin it is. I don’t allow foul language in my home, or drinking, or fornication, or lying; neither will I allow homosexual activity. Will I reject the person, no. But I will not be entertained by a spirit that is not of God (Romans 6:17). In this day, it seems like a hard truth, but it is the Word of God.

Question #8: Who are you to judge? Judging is a sin.

Righteous judgment is not a sin. In jest, Christians have both a responsibility and the authority to call sin as it is. We are to abstain from it and warn a brother when we see Him falling into temptation. I explain that more in details within this post, Should Christians Judge?

Question #9: He that is without sin, Cast the first stone. Aren’t you casting a stone?

I am not condemning anyone to hell. That’s the job of God. I am simply reiterating what the Bible says. “But for the grace of God, there go I” has never been truer. I am no higher than a sinner. I just strive to be more like Christ.

Yet, I am no longer a sinner. The Bible says that we must become born again. That we must die daily unto Christ. This means that I must put those sinful ways behind me and live a life that’s pleasing unto Him.

Question #10: I guess you don’t wear mixed clothing or eat shellfish either?

You can read a more detailed response to this question on my response to the hate mail and my response to Huffington Post. But, in jest, this law was fulfilled by Christ, and we no longer live by it. This is also a quote from witnessfortheworld.org while talking of 1 Timothy 1:10,

Christ neutralized the ceremonial aspects but upheld the judicial and moral aspects, tendered with grace and mercy. Hence, homosexuality remains a sin “worthy of death” but yet qualified for forgiveness through repentance. The phrase Paul uses “defiling themselves with mankind” is another link of homosexual behavior to disobedience and incompatible to sound or acceptable Christian doctrine.”

What does the Bible Say about Homosexuality? Your Questions Answered

My stance on homosexuality, and what the Bible says about it, is still true.

You don’t stand for anything until you actually have to stand for it. I must stand for the truths of God. There is a lost and dying world that still faces hell, we are the light to them. We must eat, breathe, and live Christ.

Hi, thanks for keeping the Word of God pure and true. It encouraging me not to stop preeching just the gospel of Kingdom of God. I have a question. What does the Bible say about drinking wine as a Child of God. If you have a chance. Thanks and enjoy.

  2. Henda myburgh says:

It is a sin ….thats it do not try to bull yourself and other people read the Bible believe it and that’s it!!! Some of the comments here are just bull!!!

  3. Please help me understand the description of pig being an unclean food. Last week, my husband showed me Leveticus 11. I know we are now under the new covenant, however, the Bible CLEARLY states we are to avoid eating pig. Please help…. I don’t want to feel like we’re living in disobedience.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi, Kelly! That was an Old Testament Levitical law that was fulfilled when Christ came as the sacrificial lamb. Matthew 15:11 says this “Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.” and Acts 10 where the Lord commanded Peter to eat what was once considered “unclean”. Even Romans 14:14 says “I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.”

You aren’t in sin or living in disobedience. Christ has made you free, God gave us dominion. The simplicity of the Gospel is true! 🙂

  4. I just read your post on Disney. I have been kind of researching Disney for years and it has had a dark undertone for many, many years. There are tons of subliminal messages in thier movies and cartoons dating way back. I have had nothing to do with Disney for 15 yrs after I learned of the underlieing evil that is present. Do some more research You will not believe how bad it really is

    1. You are absolutely correct! I cut ALL disney out of my home and life. It is pure evil wrapped in sparkles!

  5. Hi, I just read the article. I just want to know haven’t Jesus already paid the price on the cross for our sins? Daily we do some kind of sin, and as I understand the Bible no sin are bigger than another’s. I struggled with this gay topic a lot the last months. Most of the churches said now it’s fine. I’m against it but I just wonder?

    1. Yes everyone is prone to sin and one sin isn’t worse than another but the bible is clear we are to repent, or turn away from sin. So accepting sin as part of life is not what we are to do.

  6. Thank you Brooke’S for all your positive replies and comments. You are a True Believer of the spoken written and Living Word of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Bible is clear on homosexuality. God created two people, Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. As you said, God loves us all, however, He hates sin. God bless you Brooke. God loves you and so do I.

  7. I would also pull out information on the garden… Genesis 3.
Theirs more here than an Apple!
Satan is a great deception hound. He’ll sniff out anything you do that he can use against you. Hence “the Apple” !
In 3:1 serpent in the hebrew means the glistening one. So hes great to look at.
The deception is that he has horns and a pitch fork… not so!
3:3 touch means: to lie with a woman in intercourse (strongs concordance #5060 touch, naga, to lie with a woman.)
Believing this and continuing with what is written. Then 3:6 Eve slept with satan? That being said, if eve gave to her husband ALSO, and he DID eat????
Then HE, Adam also lay down with satan.

And the eyes of them both were open?
This is 1. Where sin started! And 2. Where homosexuality was born!

Think about it… why would God get mad at Adam and eve for taking a bite of apple? How did they know they were naked? And why? If they ate an apple, did he sew fig leaves together to cover their private parts???
In 3:13 eve states “the serpent beguiled me and I did

    [ Beguile: verb
To beguile is defined as to deceive someone in a cunning way or to enchant someone and make him become attracted to you.]
11 Corinthians 11:1-3 backs this up. Paul writes, …as the servant beguiled eve through his subtility, so should your minds be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

And as we look upon homosexuality… it is not out place to judge. But we are told to DISCERN. To be aware. Not to follow.

    Prayers to all…

    Strongs concordance beguile
    #1818 …Holy seduced.

    1. Mario Falwasser says:

      Dear Sister Ann,

Yes Jesus paid the penalty for all sins pass present and future. However Jesus is not confused and He has a perfect design for man to follow and as we know, Jesus is God in the flesh and God says that sin is sin and it will remain sin until the sin has been repented of and the person or persons repenting from that sin maintains walking faithfully as an obedient steward. Being in the continuous state of santification.

When we repent God say’s He will forget all our sins as far as the East is from the West then so shall our sin be also…

Yes God is love. But please understand our God is also Just and righteous and He will never allow sin into heaven. Therefore He will never allow the person who chooses to stay in His or Her sin to go unpunished. Homosexuality is definitely out of God’s design for all mankind and we can never lean on our own understanding but what the living word of God delivers to us through his sword of the spirit. The way I look at it is if something that is mentioned in the Old testament and is undoubtedly an abomination to the Lord, And it is repeated again in the New testament, then this is definitely a command to keep well away from it.

You are either a practicing born again Christian abstaining from his/her lust of the flesh, walking in the Holy Spirit by faith through grace.

      Or

You are a practicing homosexual confused about what God is teaching and making a mockery out of Him which shall have dire consequences.

We can never serve two masters only one.
      GOD BLESS

    2. You have been beguiled by the deceiver, what cockamamie idea is that, just because you want to believe someone’s radical idea doesn’t make it true.
Nowhere does the Bible say it was an apple, I often eat apples, they are not forbidden, you make it sound like “what’s so big a deal as eating an apple”, and you read into it something more.
They disobeyed God, that is a big deal, Adam and Eve did not sleep with Satan, touch also means, “touch” not to lie with, Paul mentions Eve being beguiled (deceived) and doesn’t want people to be deceived through how simple Salvation in Christ is.
      Sort of how you have been tricked away from a simple story of Adam and Eve and think there must be more to the story. There is a rule in Bible interpretation;
“When the simple sense makes sense, seek no other sense. “

  8. Hey sorry for my last comment. I only read the headliners and that was my fault. Sorry!

  9. Praise God that you are not ashamed of God’s word and speak truth with grace and love! How loving is it to never share the truth with those one claims to love? Scripture clarifies this beautifully. Jesus loves all sinners, but hates the sin, and He never refrained from speaking truth out of not wanting to offend. On the contrary, He warned that He came to offend.

To the comments about judging, we are to judge righteously, not as the world judges. Brook shared her well-written post, and here is another, very thoroughly backed by Scripture: https://answersingenesis.org/bible-questions/does-the-bible-tell-christians-to-judge-not/

It is no time to be silent.

Brook, the world will hate you as it hated Him. You are in this world, not of it. Stand strong in Him, my sister.

  10. Dale Harrington says:

There are those who say that Jesus never spoke about this or that. If one believes in the Trinity, then wouldn’t it make sense that if God says something then Jesus also would stand by it, as would the Holy Spirit? If the Word of God, as a whole, has a message then, in a general sense, the argument that “Jesus never spoke against ….” doesn’t hold water, because if a NT writer was lead by the Holy Spirit to write this or that, then it must also be what Jesus would have wanted said, as much as it is also what God ANYWHERE in the Bible would have wanted it said. Is this logical and Scriptural thinking on my part?

May God be honored by the proclaiming of truth. I am encouraged by your willingness to be His vessel.

  11. I agree with you on all things with the exception of one thing. You are right “God” does not change. So the laws, statutes and commandments are intacked. Jesus did away with the ceremonial and sacrificial aspects of the law because He became the sacrificial lamb for our sins. But the eating of unclean foods is not ceremonial and therefore still forbidden. The same with the practice of the seven day sabbath and the feast days. Christianity has picked and choosed what it will and will not follow that there is so much confussion within the faith. The Father is not the source of confussion but Satan is. Christian’s choose to say they follow The Most High and the Messiah but practice and celebrate in pagan and worldly holidays. The Messiah still followed the seven day sabbath and the Feast Days and after His death, the apostles even Paul continued to follow those days. There is no where in the NT that says or proves that these were done away with. But it does prove that they are still to be kept. Then there is the unconditional love. That is false. There are conditions to the Father’s love. Multiple times in the OT and in the NT the Father tells us that He will cut us off if we continue to live and practice in sin.

    1. Nicole, I’m not sure where you school at for church, but your comments and answers sound alot like one I school at? Would love to chat more…

    2. You need to read Colossians 3:14-17 KJV
The Sabbath and other holy days along with meats are addressed, they were shadows not the real thing, Jesus is the real Holy One, not a day or a diet. Every day is a Holy day for a true Christian.

    3. The Gentiles did not follow sabbath or feast days because it was never their custom. Jesus nor his disciples did not convert them to Judaism or did I miss something?

  12. Hi Brooke,
I respect your stand on this point. I have a lot gay friends. And they are some of the nicest, loving people you’ll ever meet. Most of them say they were born this way. I don’t pretend to understand their lives but I respect them and love them as people; what they do in the bedroom is nobody’s business but their own. I also try hard to not be judgemental and self righteous. In the end, the only person who will judge is God.

Let me give you a couple of verses that I live by:
“When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgement on it. There is only one Law Giver and Judge, the One who is able to save and destroy! But you – who are you to judge your neighbor. James 4:11-12
Then look up Luke 6:37 and Matthew 7:1-2

Finally I would like to address “Disney World”. My mom retired from there and told me that Disney does not sponsor groups. They are a public entity where everyone is welcome! If a group decides to spend a day at the parks and advertise amongst their members, there is nothing Disney can do about it because, again, they are a public entity. I hope this helps to clarify LGBTQ day at Disney World, it is just a day or weekend that the members decided on to have fun.

    1. When someone talks about homosexuality I will give him an answer Rom 1

  13. Praise God for people who still stand up for his holy word! What God has declared as sin will always be, whatever man may say. Continue in the faith.

  14. Thank you for being willing to proclaim the truth from God’s word! It is refreshing and so needful in this culture. I also agree on your boycott of Disney! Again thank you for pointing out the truth!!

  15. Email correction from previous post

  16. Bless your heart! Stand on and for the Word of God (which is Jesus Christ Jn 1). For the other comments against you, I can use their justification for anything I want to do; however, where do you draw the line? Christians who truly believe draw the line in Christ who is our light and life. May He through the Holy Ghost mortify (put to death) the deeds of the flesh (Romans 8) in all of our lives. Everybody loves John 3:16 but don’t like 3:17-21. We don’t have to judge people because people judge themselves. Everybody make judgements in life or we would all be living in chaos. Judgements are not judging people but are rules and regulations (boundaries) to live by right or wrong. Christians try their best to live like Christ by using the Bible (written Word) to set those boundaries based upon what is right and not wrong. However, we still fall short of His glory and pray for forgiveness by repenting. Hopefully, we can still love one another even our enemies by living together in spite of our differences. One of my favorite scriptures is Jn 20:30-31. Love and prays to all. In Jesus name, Keith

    1. When good Christians avert their eyes from truth and allow sinfulness they are choosing to ignore Jesus’s call to evangelize and make christians of all the land. We are called to love one another and i can think of no greater way to love then help someone turn from sin to Christ. Loving soneone and allowing them to sin and say nothing would be similar to knowing they were going yo kill thenself and not doing anything. Each peeson is born with original sin…we wach have to live with some part of us that desires something sinful. I will choose to applaud those that see tgeir sinful natire take up yheie cross daily and follow Jesus. That means those that live sex choose to abstain unless in the proper context ( and yes even married couples are called to practice abstaince in yheir marrige and contraception is a sin). Those that desire drama and lie, slander and gossip choose to guard their tongue. Those that tend toward greed or envy or pride choose the virtue over tge vice. God sees all and ot is not my job to send to heaven or hell. But i am called to loce like christ. He did not tell sinners go and come back when you sinned again. No he said go and sin no more.

  17. Hello! My name is Alexina and I found your post interesting and the way that you speak up for what you believe inspiring. I have a very different view on homosexuality as I am gay myself. I want to mention a few small theological points if you didn’t mind but I want to be clear that I am not trying to say your opinion isn’t valid and that I’m mostly just interested in communicating through differing views.

    1. Romans 1:26-27 is written by Paul. Paul is a very smart man and I admire him, but he never actually met Jesus. I think it unfair to decide Jesus’s opinions on a certain topic by something written by someone who never met him. Yes, he did mention revalations and speaking with Jesus but many people do and these people aren’t always correct about it. People after Jesus died decided what the bible should be and it’s hard to know whether it’s a good source.

    2. The word used as abomination in the old testament (Leviticus) to describe homosexual behaviors is Toevah. Toevah’s literal translation is much closer to disgusting in an “icky” sort of sense than anything else (I was told this by a Rabbi, but you can google to see if it’s true, I’m just not sure how to put links of sources in the comments). This word is the same one used to describe shellfish.

    3. How does one decide what the ceremonial and judicial aspects are as opposed to the actual sin? As mentioned in my second point, the word used to describe the thing that is wrong with homosexuality is the same one used to describe shellfish and mixed clothing. I am interested in understanding what makes one of them more serious than the other as their wording is the same.

    4. As John Fitzgerald, teacher at Notre Dame and expert on the new testament, says “In the history of Christianity in the West, there has been a recurring tendency to place greater emphasis on sexual sins than on other kinds,” Fitzgerald said. “That greater emphasis is clearly evident in today’s world.”

    5. Homosexuality in Paul’s time was not anything resembling what same sex relationships are like now. It was not acceptable to be in a relationship in which there was love and not just lust. It was pedophilia, prostitution and adultery. Of course Paul didn’t condone any of those things, most people wouldn’t.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi Alexina! Thanks for taking the time to comment with your views. If you were to browse some more on our site, you would see that I addressed most of your concerns in other posts. But I’ll go ahead and address them here too. 🙂

      1. Christians believe that the Bible is written by men through the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. The words are not just thoughts or opinions. They are words that are put there for a purpose, written by men and influenced by God. Everything that is in the Bible is because it is designed and authored by God. Therefore, they aren’t Paul’s opinions, but contextual facts that are influenced by the heart of God.

      2. I won’t argue about the contextual meaning of the word. Either way, the Bible’s stance on homosexuality is very clear by many scriptures in both the Old and New Testament. It is referenced many times and in many ways. This does not change.

      3. In my post here, I refer to it in #10, you’ll see that Christ fulfilled that Old Testament Law. “You can read a more detailed response to this question on my response to the hate mail and my response to Huffington Post. But, in jest, this law was fulfilled by Christ, and we no longer live by it.
This is also a quote from witnessfortheworld.org while talking of 1 Timothy 1:10, “Christ neutralized the ceremonial aspects but upheld the judicial and moral aspects, tendered with grace and mercy. Hence, homosexuality remains a sin “worthy of death” but yet qualified for forgiveness through repentance. The phrase Paul uses “defiling themselves with mankind” is another link of homosexual behavior to disobedience and uncompatible to sound or acceptable Christian doctrine.””
The posts referenced are: https://www.theferventmama.com/modest-moms-response-huffington-post-cancelling-disney-trip/ and https://www.theferventmama.com/hate-mail/

      4. I believe that all sin is equal. You can see that in my post “What does the Bible Say About Stand for Righteousness?” Here’s an excerpt as well: “It’s more than just an LGBTQ issue; it’s an abortion issue, it’s a hate issue, it’s a perversion issue, it’s a lawless issue, it’s an immoral issue, it’s a idolatrous, covetous, broken-love issue, it’s a slothful, lazy, stiff-necked issue, it’s a pacifying doctrine and greedy gospel, pat you on the back because you’re okay in your sin issue.”
I think that the issue of homosexuality shines because that’s what our media is filled with right now. Just as you’ll see many posts about “Me too” and others because that is a big issue right now.

      5. I’m not sure what you’re trying to say here. In many scriptures the Bible lists out homosexuality as men lying with men and women with women- this is what homosexuality is defined as today, right? Therefore, the scripture remains that it is impure, immoral and against God’s word.

    2. Robert George says:

The Bible can be proven as Gods living word and not mans opinion through the course of time. Through fulfillment of prophecy to mathematics, science, archaeology, history from varios cultures, etc. It is man / religion not Gods word that tries to manipulate and bend the Bible to meet one’s sinful nature. Christians just like EVERYONE else have sinned and cannot access Gods kingdom without the covering of sins through his son Jesus Christ. Sinners and nonbelievers love to say we are not to judge. This is correct from those that are non believers. However those professing to follow Christ and lead in the Church teaching acceptance of sinful practices we are called to reject and remove from our midst. It saddens me to see how many people profess to be good people and think that rhey themselves being good is all that is needed to see God and enter paradise. That is a sure way to eternal death and separation from God your creator.

  18. I am bisexual, and Christian. I beg you to read our stories and not just dismiss them.

    1. Hello Kasey,
What I am about to write is written in love and with the deepest of concern not only for your soul but for all who struggle with the sin of homosexuality. I personally do not think Brooke has dismissed out of hand your pleas but has been fair and has spoken what God would have her to say about the subject.
I myself struggle with same sex attraction since the age of 12, I am now over 70. Some days the struggle can be overwhelming, but my desire is I want to please God in my spirit rather than please my evil flesh which wars against my spirit, Romans 6-8, Galatians 5:16-25. Feed your spirit and stop feeding your flesh. 1 Corinthians 10:13.
Find your faith in God’s Word and grow your faith there. Don’t listen to the cunning, crafty, and deceitful words of men, even so called clergy teach lies of the demons, cling to God and His Word, be careful to whom you listen to in these days.

  19. This is the topic that I avoid with my gay friends. God love us all. Gays are passionate, loving, kind, sweet, and true friend. I can’t imagine what they have gone through growing up.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

I agree, God does love us all. But as Christians, we have a responsibility to preach the Gospel. I think all people have the capacity to be passionate, loving, kind, sweet and true friends- no matter their identity, religion, or cultural background. Unfortunately people in all aspects of life have suffered terrible things.

  20. I love the way you express your strong opinions about this matter. Your explanation is something that enlightens me about this kind of point of view.

  21. I really wanted to comment on the original cancelling Disney post, but comments are turned off. While I also believe that homosexuality is not God’s design and sinful, I am extremely surprised that you are *just* hearing about Disney’s support of the homosexual agenda and lifestyle. They have hosted pride events for for many years, opposed DOMA, invited gay couple to take part in their dream wedding program, and given health benefits to same sex partners.
I’m wondering where you do your shopping. Unless it’s a faith-based company, chances are they in some way support gay rights, or unbiblical lifestyles (while homosexuality is a sin, so is living with an opposite sex partner out of marriage for example). If we boycotted everything that supported sinful lifestyles (because homosexuality is not the only one, yet people get more worked up over it), we’d never shop any of the popular retailers in this country.
Yes, we need to be different, but we keep harping on one sin, making it a huge deal, when all sins are equal.

    1. Jan Fitzsimmons says:

Hi I’m jan and a new re born Christian. My comments are as follows: homosexuality : god says it’s sinful, so it is sinful. Whether you are a homasxual or not. He is our Heavenly Father and Wants our soul to live. Therefore, we have a choice. We either ignore the warning and perish or repent and turn from that behaviour. I am a divorced woman, a recovered alcoholic and sex addict. If I practice fornication I too will perish in the end and not go into eternal life with god. I have a choice. So I don’t practice fornication. I want to do what pleases god. It’s hard but I have to pray in the spirit and not the flesh for strength just like a homesexual … let’s stop labelling things and address sin as wrong according to god’s word.
Now for ‘Disney’ if I check you will realise they are demonic and illuminati. The word ‘sex’ is shown all through their cartoons which is brainwashing children

      1. Jan, If you are born-again, it is impossible for you to perish and go to hell.
Stop trusting in your works to save you, you had nothing to do with your Salvation and you have nothing to do with Keeping yourself saved,
You just put your faith in the finished work of Christ and He did the Saving, He also does the Keeping, 1 Peter 1:5

    2. Johnny Ragin says:

LGBTQ sin is trying to take over the world! They are forcing their lifestyle on everyone. They are telling us that God made a mistake! There is no god telling them how to live. They are teaching this Huge sin to our very young children in Elementary Schools and reading in Public Libraries causing more great confusion for our children. They adopt more children to brain wash them. It is LUST not love! We never seem to recognize that there is a very evil person = Satan, running this attack against God and the people of God. People without Jesus are left to their own standards and thoughts. The Book of Judges tells us everyone did what was right in their own eyes. Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed by God’s fire from Heaven. Jesus died and rose again from the dead to demonstrate His Power over Satan, death, hell, and all sin and paid God’s wrath as our Savior. When people are called to repentance and they did not want to repent God will turn them over to a reprobate mind to do what they want or anything they want. The lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life are the root of all sin and evil in this world that is why Jesus defeated them so that you can chose Him as your Savior. All sin will be judged! As a child of God it is pressing on me to warn folks of the future destruction. In heaven there will be NO Sin! To qualify for Heaven, you must repent, be baptized like Jesus who loves you so much that He will give you the gift of His Holy Spirit so you can be strong enough to defeat sin everyday! Jesus said those who follow Him will suffer and be persecuted for His Namesake. The signs of the end times are upon us because wrong is judged to be right = LGBTQ and right = God’s Word is judged to be wrong. Jesus is coming back to set up His Kingdom and Satan with his friends will be put away forever. Jesus is the King of Kings! Do not waste time fighting over men’s thoughts when you can life the holy life that God’s Word teaches. God gives us all a choice to choose Jesus or choose Satan, or self: only one is right and that is Jesus. Please choose Him and live forever with Him! This world will pass away. Jesus’ Kingdom will be forever! The World’s Greed, The World’s Selfishness, and The World’s Power will fail against God’s will. All people need a Savior = Jesus! John 3:16-18!

  22. It’s good you know your own views. I value people who stick by then.

  23. Thank you for honestly expressing where you come from on this. It is a very brave stance to take on it. When the world seems to be moving you to believe what everyone else believes through intimidation, that is sad.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi, David! Persecution for Christ is gain!

  24. Though I wholeheartedly disagree with you on this and have seen first hand effects of similar (though not your own as I’ve never met you in person nor will i likely ever in the future) views/understandings of the Bible, I’ll avoid the rabbit hole as you seem to have had enough of it already.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi D! I appreciate your withholding from disrespect out of respect. If that makes sense?

  25. Cristina Leau says:

I’m not a religious person, but I try not to judge anybody. I prefer to be the way I am than to believe and be a stupid person who despite some people just because they are different.

  26. The God we serve doesn’t change. What a faithful God we have. We are not meant to judge people of their sins. He loves us and still forgives us of our sins.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

      How faithful He is!!

    1. Brooke Poston says:

      I enjoyed your blog, Ophelia!

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Thanks for your input, Tonya. It’s refreshing to see some agree to disagree, without arguing!

  27. I’m honestly not sure what to say. I’ve been trying to write a comment for about 10 minutes and I just can’t find the words. How can you expect someone to respect your relationship to Jesus if you don’t respect their relationship to whomever they choose love?

Michelle | She’s Not So Basic

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi Michelle! Thanks for your blatant honesty. However, I’m not asking for approval, nor respect, with my relationship with God. I get that approval from His presence. Although, how someone lives there life is up to them. But as the Bible puts it, I am a disciple unto Christ and must reiterate what His word says by living that sacrificial life unto Him. Even if that means a little persecution sometimes.

      1. Yeah but you chose to believe in that Bible. You made that choice. You were not born that way. How would you feel if every time your kids walked into a room, other kids walked out because their parents told them believing in Jesus is a sin. You can go on and on about how all you need is the lords approval but at the end of the day, if you saw pain in your childrens eyes because they were excluded due to the way someone else thinks, you would not be happy. It’s really as simple as treat others as you want to be treated.

        1. You can be empathetic as well as respectfully disagreeing on issues and still hold to Biblical truths. After all treating others the way you want to be treated is Biblical, I believe it’s in the book of Matthew (?), either way just because someone disagrees does not mean they are without compassion or empathy. The ways of this world are evil and there is a ton of hurt and horrible things that are happening. It doesn’t mean we have to allow it cuz someone is okay with it and it hurts someone’s feelings

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Thanks for visiting, Gail! I look forward to reading your blog!

  28. This post is really refreshing! I grew up in a family where tolerance was the most important and where our parents would love us no matter who we date and marry. But I still grew up surrounded by people who didn’t think alike, especially christian people, so it’s really good to read a post that I can refer to in case I need to make a point in the future! xx corinne

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi Corinne and Kristy! I think it’s important to have these sorts of conversations with people! Not only does it help keep us grounded, but it encourages us to seek out and really know what we believe!

  29. Thank you so much for this article, Brooke. I agree with everything you said here. (I haven’t yet read the original article yet, so I don’t have any comments on that yet.) I don’t understand why some people just cannot see what is clearly written in the Bible, God’s Word. Blinded , I guess, by society’s acceptance of so many things that are contrary to His Word. (I find this happening in my own life with some things, unfortunately, and have to continually be on guard.) We see and hear society say that certain things are okay or actually good when God says they’re not. And that can slowly blind us to God’s truth if we’re not super careful and in prayer. God was, is, and will be. What He said then in the Bible is still applicable. God doesn’t change. Stay strong!

    1. Sherry Blackhurst says:

I am blessed with discernment. I have always felt uncomfortable with the idea of homosexuality. I didn’t want to know anyone who was one. And the ones I did know were weird and wanted to draw attention to themselves. It made me afraid. Then I became a Christian and my ideas started to change. I was shown a lot of really good people who were homosexual. Family members who I love dearly. Neighbors who were very nice.I loved them and still do to this day. But I feel an under current. An agenda. A passiveness. There is something else going on. We need to keep our eyes wide open. There are wonderful people everywhere but not all of them believe in our father and his son and holy spirit. God will be their judge ultimately. I will try to keep my heart kind and loving for my father in heaven.

  30. Brooke, I’m thankful to see that you are still standing firm. What you faced was not easy. Many are extremely passionate on both sides about this issue and it is refreshing to see you explain your thoughts in love and grace.
Some may not hear it that way because all they can see is you don’t agree but you did a good job in sharing that God does love us all but he also calls us towards him and away from our sins. He want to be number one in our lives and nothing else should try to stand in that place.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Your words are encouraging, Kristi! Thanks for taking the time to comment!

  31. Thank you for standing for the truth, even in the midst of persecution! You are an encouragement!

    1. Brooke Poston says:

The glory be to God! Hope you visit us again, Jennifer.

  32. I’m atheist although I have so much respect for Christians, homosexuals and whatnots. It’s vital that we respect each other’s differences.

  33. I respect those who are religious–I personally am not. I believe in accepting everyone and to not think something is a sin because a book states it is so, but that’s just what I believe. I respect those who believe in the Bible.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Amber, your respectful honesty is refreshing!

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Respectfully disagree, Denay. I made purpose to shy away from any dialect that would make a person uncomfortable or show ‘hate’. I’m sorry if it offended you.

      1. You need not apoligize for speaking God’s truth. It only offends those who are exhibiting sinful nature..No one apologizes for offending God. People need to accept the FACT that we are not speaking our opinions…we are simply speaking the gospel of the Almighty God. If it comes down to offending people..the gospel would never be spoken of…which is the goal of modern day society. God loves you, we love you and it is because of that love that we share with you the good news of Christ. He can bring you deliverance.

  34. I completely agree that we should accept, and be kind to, those who think differently than we do. It isn’t our place to judge, we just need to focus on ourselves and who we want to be. You backed your beliefs well with scripture. It’s crazy how so many people took the time out of their day to bash your beliefs instead of understand that there are those out there who think and believe differently, and being different is okay! You handled the responses to your post about cancelling Disney well. I probably would have shut down with stress over what was going on!

    1. Brooke Poston says:

But for the grace of God, there go I! It’s a hard place to be in, but it’s the truth of the word! Thanks for your response, Shannon!

  35. I wish I could find a way to comment to this post in a positive and productive way but I can’t. I just can’t.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

      Your honesty is noted, Akamatra.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Thanks, Heather! I look forward to reading more of your blog!

  36. John 15:18-25
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 20Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 21But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. 22If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. 23He that hateth me hateth my Father also. 24If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. 25But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

    Be encouraged.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi Kenyatta! These scriptures are great strongholds in the time of trouble!

  37. Sheugnet Jones says:

Thank you for sharing these questions and answers. I’m with you on most of what you say, but on a few I differ. In point 7 you say that you will not cut off such a child. I would cut off such a child for several reasons. Such a child would bring my other children (grand children) in contact with perversions. I cannot allow that. Such a child has turned his back on God. If I continue to have relations with him, I am in friendship with the world an that means I become and enemy of God.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi Sheugnet! I understand your concerns and partly agree with you. Keep on in the faith!

  38. You know that someone can be gay and not have sex right?

The gay sex is what the sin is. If a gay person doesn’t have sex, they are not sinners.

If your children grow up and no one wants to marry them, they will still be Christians as long as they don’t have sex. Same thing.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi Liza, I’m not sure exactly what your point is, but thanks for commenting!

  39. I’m not a Christian but I respect all religion. I will continue to support your post in other topic 🙂 Cheers.

  40. I think it is great that you have faith and stick to your convictions. While I do not agree with everything you have said I respect your faith.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi Deanna, thanks for being honest!

  41. Someone who has actually studied the Bible says:

You know nothing about the Bible and your dribble and diatribe demonstrates you THINK you do, but you are a poor representation of faith and knowledge of the scriptures. Yikes. Please just stop. You really don’t have a clue.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

I think your ‘diatribe’ quite reversed in that you have not given an account for your knowledge of scripture.

    2. Bill Bushey says:

Curious to know where you believe she is wrong? I’ve studied the Bible extensively for the better part of 25 years now and I didn’t find anything inaccurate in what she said. If anything, I’d have ADDED to what she said and expounded on a few points to reinforce what she said.

      1. Is this what Jesus meant when he said don’t cast pearls before swine? In other words don’t waste good words on those who will have none of it.

  42. Jeanie Rae says:

While I find your faith inspiring, it seems as though the message may be lost on you. Please love all of God’s creations equally and do not pass judgement or push your values onto others.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi Jeanie, I respectfully disagree that I’m being unloving. Nor am I passing judgement, or pushing values. Christians have a great duty to back the Word of God. By taking a stand, this is not forcing my views.

  43. I appreciate how open and direct you are without being rude. More Christians need to stand up for what the Bible says not just what is socially ok. I appreciate your research and the resource this article can be in conversations with friends. Thank you!

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Thanks, Rachel! It seems that there isn’t much tolerance for Christian views in this day.

      1. Brooke, I am not religious, I’m sure you and I have very different views on many things. However I will always live by the mantra “Defense of the freedom of others is self defense.” I will always defend your right to say whatever you would like to say and think whatever you would like to think and believe whatever you would like to believe. That obviously does not mean you are free from criticism which I am sure you are aware of. I have to completely disagree with your comment here one tolerance for Christian views.

The United States has always protected and been tolerant of the Christian religion. Without going too far into the history of this country and pulling out every example of legislation that favors Christianity (which would make for a very long post) I will respectfully say your views are tolerated greatly in this country. A law passed a few years back in Texas that protected the rights of people to say Merry Christmas in the public school system, which is just one of the many examples of such legislation that places a priority on the Christian faith rather than displaying an intolerance towards it. With all due respect what people such as yourself need to realize is that when you are no longer given the right to be intolerant of others that is not intolerance towards you.

  44. John Casey Chapman says:

I would love to speak to you via email or messenger, anything.
    You are so unbelievably lost.
If there is a pearly gate – I do believe you will be turned away quickly.
I feel sorry for you, but it is not too late to learn, grow, evolve.

    1. Brooke Poston says:

Hi John! Thanks for taking the time to comment. However, the Bible plainly states that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He doesn’t evolve and He does not change. His word still stands.

      1. I love the example you set by being bold and unmoved and also very polite at the same time . A true Christian’s light shines without having to prove or explain themselves . Glad you’re on our team ! Thanks

    2. Bill Bushey says:

John, are you saying the author of this article is lost? I ask this only because I’ve been a Biblical scholar for the better part of 25 years and I didn’t find any inaccuracies in what she said. What part or parts did you disagree with and what scripture are you basing this disagreement on?
